Mount Holly
showed they can put on another crowd pleasing event and provide
parking, fun, food, chili, fire engine rides, dog sled races,
rescue dogs, zoo animals, face painting, big bubbles, more chili,
lumberjacks and revolutionary war re-enactors...all free to those
attending.
Throughout the day as many as 10,000 people, possibly
the events largest crowd, enjoyed the varied activities at this
family friendly annual winter festival, "Fire & Ice".
Following sanctioned National Ice Carving Association
(NICA) judging and points rules, a rare Gold Medal was awarded
to Rich Daly from Long Island for "The Guardian". The first
place winner and a Silver medal and second place was earned by
Mark McKenzie from NYC for "Butterfly on Sunflower".
In the amateur ranks 18 year old Nick Ziegler, who
drove all the way from Ohio to compete, earned a NICA bronze
medal for his carving of the Star Ship Enterprise.
