100 re-enactors to stage battleFriday, December 09,
2005
MOUNT HOLLY - More than 100 re-enactors will gather tomorrow for Mount Holly Historic Weekend - two days of Civil War and Revolutionary War history camps. The weekend's highlight is the re-enactment at 2 p.m. Sunday of the December 1776 Battle of Iron Works Hill, where British and Hessian troops skirmished with patriots. Additional activities include historical presentations about Walt Whitman and Harriet Tubman and performances by two musicians dressed in 19th-century costumes playing parlor music. Tomorrow's highlight is "Haunted Holly Ghost Tour," a walking tour focusing on the history and haunted happenings at some Mount Holly landmarks. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children.
